334,150 sheets in 24 hours – a world record!
“Three teams produced exactly 334,150 sheets on our Speedmaster XL 145 within 24 hours, thus setting a new world record in this format class. This is something we can be proud of,” says a delighted Dieter Allitsch, Managing Director of Mayr-Melnhof Packaging France S. A. S. (MMP). This success also shows that his strategy has paid dividends: “We’ve replaced two machines from competitors with the productivity world champion from Heidelberg. Now we’re generating more sales with fewer presses.”
MMP France is part of the Mayr-Melnhof Group, which has 32 sites in Europe, South America, North Africa, Asia, and the Middle East. With a workforce of around 200 employees, the print shop produces at the french location mainly folding cartons and other packaging for big-name manufacturers of beverages, dairy products, cereals, ready meals, frozen foods, confectionery, and pet food – a difficult and competitive market whose players can only hold their own with minimal makeready times and maximum productivity.
The mission is to produce high-quality products as cost-effectively as possible and in high volumes. At MMP France, that means around one billion folding cartons each year. “Naturally, the Speedmaster XL 145-6+LX is playing a crucial role in this enormous output,” concludes Allitsch. “And we can harness 100% of the press’s potential.”
