Speedmaster XL 75-5 UV. From a fully digital label print shop to full-service provider for all packaging requirements – with Speedmaster technology.

Trust in technology from Heidelberg

“As an expert in digital product labeling, we were prepared to enter the folding carton market and achieve growth there, too. This was the next step and the time was right,” says Managing Director Mark Uvlin. The new Speedmaster XL 75 UV has enabled Orbytel to move into the larger and more profitable area of folding carton packaging and displays, which was not previously possible using digital equipment. Orbytel wants to offer its customers fast, flexible, and value added products and, when running the Speedmaster XL 75 UV, that also includes printing on plastics and other more unusual substrates. This opens up new customer segments and drives profitable growth. Uvlin made certain that the company’s comparative lack of experience in offset printing would not be an obstacle to his new venture. “We took a look at the offerings of various press manufacturers and quickly opted for Heidelberg. I have the greatest confidence in Heidelberg technology, its integrated solutions, perfectly coordinated consumables, and long-term access to the best service available in the industry.”

Founded in 1964, Orbytel looks back on a 50-year history – 20 years of which saw the company develop gradually from a print broker to manufacturer. Having initially focused on the production of self-adhesive labels, the business was later expanded to include flexible and rigid wide-format displays and flexible foil packaging. Today, Orbytel’s portfolio takes in everything from CAD design, prototyping, and labels through to flexible packaging, displays for retailers, and signage produced for customers in the food and beverage, consumer goods, cosmetics, and chemical industries.

At production speeds of up to 15,000* sheets per hour, the five-color Speedmaster XL 75 UV press installed at Orbytel boasts fully automated, simultaneous plate changing with AutoPlate XL, optimized washup programs, and the fully automatic InkStar ink supply system to ensure consistently stable ink density. The Prinect Inpress Control inline measuring and control system that controls register and color on the fly enables Orbytel to reduce start-up waste to less than 100 sheets in the area of folding carton printing. In addition to the press, Orbytel’s investment package included a Suprasetter 75 CtP platesetter with the Prinect workflow and a Kama ProCut 74 die cutter.

*The Speedmaster XL 75 is optionally available with 18,000 sheets per hour.
